If you're looking for a course that teaches your puppy to sit, stay or perform behaviours on cue, this probably isn't the course you were expecting.
That's because CDD doesn't begin with training.
It begins with raising a puppy.
Just as we don't raise children by constantly asking what behaviour we can train next, CDD invites us to think differently about puppies. Rather than asking, "How do I get my puppy to do this?" we begin by asking, "What kind of individual is my puppy becoming, and how can I help them flourish?"
Throughout this course, you'll discover a gentler and more thoughtful way of living with your puppy. Rather than relying on repeated cues, constant rewards or external motivation, you'll learn how to guide your puppy through everyday experiences, conversations and shared discoveries. The goal isn't simply to train behaviours. It's to help your puppy develop confidence, curiosity, emotional security and the ability to think, problem-solve and make good decisions for themselves.
That doesn't mean you'll never teach behaviours. There are times when skills can be helpful, enjoyable and important. The difference is that, within CDD, those behaviours are no longer the destination. They become just one small part of a much bigger picture.
This course is about raising a puppy who feels safe enough to explore, confident enough to learn, and secure enough to develop into an adaptable adult dog. It's about guiding rather than controlling, teaching rather than training, and building a relationship that continues to grow long after puppyhood has passed.
We don't want puppies to become dependent on us for every decision. We want them to develop the confidence to think, explore, problem-solve and make thoughtful choices for themselves, knowing that we're there to guide and support them when they need us.
